I love these categories, but I feel like for me they all mean spending the same amount! Steal: you have to buy something nice because it’s on sale. Staple: you have to buy something nice because you will wear it forever. Splurge: you have to buy something nice because it’s, well, as splurge!

I’m going to have to rethink my categories 🤣

Haha! For adults, the distinction feels more deliberate. For tweens, it’s hard to not feel like everything’s throwing money at a problem. But we’re out here trying to make sense of it!

I told myself, you’re not a tween, it’s ok 🤣. But I liked the way the categories held even if the story changed (and the amount spent)!

Over the years, it really has helped someone like me who shamed herself over making not-so insignificant purchases of things I really needed. Like suiting for work. I was always waiting for a deal, but maybe the deal is never coming for the perfect suit.
